For the very first interview on Wearing Pants Again, I had the chance to sit down with someone who’s inspired me for years — my older brother, Evan.
In this episode, Evan shares what first drew him to filmmaking, from early inspirations to launching a production company with friends after film school. As he built his portfolio and began pitching ideas in Hollywood, he realized many of his concepts were too surreal or expansive to capture with a camera alone. That realization led him to 3D art — a discovery that opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities.
Self-taught in 3D and XR workflows, Evan has since built a career that blends storytelling with technology. He served as the lead 3D artist on the Coachella Innovation team, and one of his animated films earned the People’s Choice Award in the Runway Gen:48 film contest.
His creative expression doesn’t stop at film. Building off of his experience in band from when he was in school, he went on to learn music production. Now, he’s merging his passions by developing immersive, live VR music experiences.
We also talk candidly about the challenges of the creative path — including rejection, self-doubt, and the pressure to share work in a world shaped by social media. Evan opens up about how he navigates those moments and stays connected to his voice.
I’m inspired by his fearlessness and unwavering commitment to creating work that feels honest, human, and emotionally true. He’s someone who’s following his dream — no matter what it takes.
I really enjoyed this conversation and hope it inspires you to take a leap — to try learning a new skill, explore an idea that excites you, or put yourself and your work out into the world, even if it feels scary.
